Clean the Floors

Sometimes, using the right cleaning methods could help your floors look new again. Older stones tend to have more dirt and grime. Thus, the older the stone, the more you need to clean it. Get the right cleaning equipment for the job. You need to have a bucket, a sponge, a mop, rubber gloves, a paint roller and a brush. Also, get the ideal stone care products.

Sweep your floors to clear any debris before cleaning. You can then apply a generous amount of the cleaning solution and brush any stained travertine tiles. The solution should sit for several minutes before wiping it away using a clean towel.

Apply a Re-Sealant

After cleaning, a re-sealant can enhance the longevity of your travertine tiles. You should use the re-sealant after allowing your floors to dry for a few days. Use a paint roller to apply patches of the sealant you choose. Some seriously damaged areas may need two coats.

Allow the sealant to sit on the stone for about 15 minutes. After that, clean off the sealant using a clean cloth and a squeegee. Check the floors to ensure they are even, and then allow the tiles to dry. Do not put any pressure on your travertine floors for a few days unit it cures completely.

Maintain Your Flooring

After the floors are clean and resealed, follow the right maintenance procedures. That ensures they remain pristine for a long time. One way to do that is by immediately sweeping any spills. That will prevent the formation of stains or damage from acid. Also, clean the travertine stone floors regularly using water and the right cleaner.
